Wow! They are beautiful. Do you soak them and rinse the water every day? how much water do you soak them in? Do you cover it and keep them in the dark ?
it is amazingly simple and nearly foolproof! soak them overnight in warmish water and drain in the morning. cover them with a kitchen towel – so as to avoid light. the right temperature to do this is in a comfortable room temp. not to hot – not too cold. but i have found my sprouts to be relatively forgiving. these seeds were a mixture of alfalfa, broccoli and something else i can’t recall. then just rinse them 2x a day and in 4 – 5 days you have sprouts! they store well in the fridge. they might be slightly yellow so when they are fully sprouted expose them to light – even indirect sun is perfect for 2 hours and they will turn bright green. amazing little buggers…
I’ve always wanted to try sprouting some seeds at home but was always intimidated by all that rinsing! You make it sound pretty easy though so once I’m back to my own kitchen, I think I’ll try it! My favorite sprouts right now from the farmer’s market are onion sprouts…really tasty!
hi nicole! i even have some very strange but incredibly healthy recipes that involve a lot of sprouts, strawberries, honey and a blender…. it’s a cold summer soup loaded with nutrition! anyway – most sprouting is incredibly simple and inexpensive. it’s hard to mess it up…

Wow that crap in your sink actually sprouted! It’s a Christmas miracle!
Really, you must be so proud. Those look like they would be mighty tasty in a half a wheat pita with some hummus!
